Drake, Snake and Cole McGrath in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
The list of characters for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale expanded by three today. Eric Ladin, the voice actor of Cole McGrath from inFamous 2, revealed earlier today on Twitter that McGrath would be in the crossover brawler alongside two other PlayStation heroes.
Ladin tweeted, “This is a great cast, Glad to be a part of it along with @DavidBHayter & @nolan_north #all-stars #playstation #BattleRoyale.”
David Hayter voiced Solid Snake and Big Boss in the Metal Gear Solid series, while Nolan North voiced Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series. This is great news and makes a lot of sense if true, since both Snake and Drake are hugely popular characters in two of the biggest PlayStation exclusive series.
The addition of Cole McGrath, Solid Snake, and Nathan Drake would add even more star power to a cast that already includes confirmed members such as Kratos from God of War, Sweet Teeth from Twisted Metal, and Radec from Killzone.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is being developed by SuperBot Entertainment and is expected to hit stores late in 2012.
Now that press commitments are coming to an end for The Avengers, the stars of the hit film can start to focus on their own projects. One star in particular, Chris Hemsworth of Thor, has begun to share his thoughts on Thor 2, which is set for release on November 13th, 2013.
In a recent interview with MTV, Hemsworth shed a little light on what fans can expect in the film, in particular why Thor will keep allowing Loki to always come back for more. Hemsworth’s comments suggest that Tom Hiddleston’s character will have a major role in the sequel.
Hemsworth said, “It’s what I loved about the comics. It was never clean and cut and that’s it. It was always like, Thor would forgive him, they’d be friends, and Loki would betray him again. ‘You idiot, Thor! Again?’ But it was different than your normal good guy, bad guy scenario. They’re brothers, you know? Anyone with siblings understands that. ‘That’s it, I’m never talking to you again… want to play football?’”
It will be interested to see what direction Marvel plans on taking the dynamic between the two brothers, and how that relationship will tie into the plot of not only Thor 2 but also The Avengers sequel.
With the success of The Avengers, it looks like an Ant-Man movie is on the horizon. Several weeks ago Marvel executive Kevin Feige stated the film was “closer than it’s ever been,” Feige’s comments were followed by Director Edgar Wright posting a photograph on Twitter that led many to believe an Ant-Man movie was happening.
All of this speculation culminated in an interview on Empire’s podcast, where Wright said Ant-Man discussions were coming together.
Wright said, “Things are happening, and other things are happening on other things as well. There’s some interesting plates spinning and I ideally hope I’ll be shooting this year.”
We already know Marvel has Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 slated for release in 2013, followed by Captain American 2 in 2014 and Avengers 2 to follow thereafter. In an earlier interview, Feige alluded to two other “untitled” Marvel projects. Could it be possible that one of those films slated for a 2014 release is Ant-Man?
"Dishonored" Gets a Release Date, Box Art Revealed
Bethesda’s next big title now has an official release date.
Dishonored made a big splash a few weeks ago with its debut trailer. It was announced yesterday that the first-person Victorian-esque steampunk assassin title will hit stores on October 9th.
In addition, it looks like Amazon has revealed the box art for the title as well. When searching for Dishonored on their site, you will come across an updated pre-order screen that shows the box art.
More details on Dishonored should arise when it appears at E3 in a few weeks.
"Assassin's Creed 3" Will Address Issue of Slavery, Revolutionary War Not the Focus
In a recent interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, Assassin’s Creed 3 writer Matt Turner shed light on some of the challenges he faced while writing a game set during such a perverse time as the American Revolution.
One of the more difficult issues to tackle is the obvious U.S.A. vs. England aspect and where the main protagonist, Connor, fits into the mix. To do this, Turner said the focus of Assassin’s Creed 3 is the Assassins-Templars conflict and not the Revolution itself, leaving Connor, who is part-Native American not taking a side.
Another interesting aspect of contention comes from British gamers who are concerned about “killing their ancestors.”
Turner spoke on the matter, “It’s funny; I’ve seen stuff from some British fans saying they don’t feel comfortable killing their ancestors. I always find that kind of ironic because killing someone else’s ancestors is fine? Also, they were British in Assassin’s Creed 1 in the Crusades, so you were fine with that?” One other big issue during this period and present in Assassin’s Creed 3 is slavery. During this period, some slaves even fought on either side of the battle with promises of their freedom hanging in the balance.
Turner said, “We feel that kind of a subject deserves a certain amount attention because it’s so serious and it needs to be treated with utmost respect. We’re definitely not going to shy away from it in terms of not showing it.” Turner added, “We’re going to focus on telling it like it was, we’re going to show what was there and what people did in that time but we want to be careful with how that’s covered and how much of it is there. It’s an important topic. We won’t be afraid to show that it’s there but we’re not going make it the focus of our game.”
It’ll be interesting to see how the writers of Assassin’s Creed 3 handle such delicate issues. If their track record means anything, they should handle the job well and pull off another fantastic entry in the Assassin’s Creed series.
